Organizational Direction, Culture & Operations

Mariposa Strategies was founded in 2018 by Annie Sanchez, guided by the belief that organizational impact was best achieved through intentional personal development and relational community building.

Today, we’re rooted in this strategic approach because we know that the power of possibility emerges in the vulnerable and unavoidable change that occurs in teams, people, systems and structures.

To achieve organizational and culture goals, we help people slow down and access heart-centered strategies to navigate waters. Whether a leadership transition, new direction for an organization or business, or navigating communication breakdown and interpersonal conflict, we want you to feel whole.

  • Strategy means nothing if those working that strategy aren’t whole.

  • Change is a guarantee. The only constant, and it’s blurry, often messy, and sometimes scary. Yet, it is the medicine that offers profound opportunities for clarity and growth.

  • Wellness isn’t a would-be-nice thing, it is essential for achieving goals, hitting KPIs, and evolving as a team.

Mariposa Strategies was built on a foundation of strategic planning for small to mid-size nonprofits and has evolved to center the vital movement work of those who are building power in art, climate and reproductive freedom spaces.

Supporting teams with strategic thought partnership to:

  • Identify and sort out the real issues,

  • Anticipate your team’s future needs,

  • See what others can’t (or don't want to) see,

  • Triage operational chaos,

  • Identify solutions to advancing your goals while honoring the reality of the toll it takes on the humans getting it done, and

  • Slow things down now, so you can ultimately go farther.

This type of support will help your team be less reactive, plan better, set goals, benchmarks and KPIs rooted in reality, and care for yourselves so you can care for each other and the cause you serve.

Services include but are not limited to:

  • Care-centered restorative staff retreats that supports each individual’s wholeness.

  • Trust-building for teams that improves and repairs relationships with one another.

  • Strategic Scaffolding that holds and guides in the short-mid term (3-12 months).

  • Fractional leadership for Culture & Operations that connects the issues to the solutions.

Through customized design and facilitation, advisory support, retained fractional leadership, individual and team coaching, we meet you where you’re at, literally and figuratively.

A message from Annie

Dearest you,

I love supporting leaders and teams who are ready to do the beautiful, messy work involved to cultivate a strong culture with healthy dynamics and operational efficiency. My approach gets at the heart of, “when things get busy, things fall apart.”

I’m eager to work with people committed to challenging their own beliefs, honoring individual ways of being, and taking seriously the decisions, actions and attitudes that lead to meaningful outcomes. I firmly believe that the change we seek to address is inherently influenced by our personal beliefs and values.

My strategy for change is rooted in imagining a much more expansive view of why the work we do matters, how we are all interconnected and honoring the reality of the humans doing the work today, as well as those who will come after us.

What is the work you’re doing? Who is it for?

How are your choices and actions impacting community? How are they impacting you and your team?

My background in organizational capacity building and strategy informed the early frameworks I still use to support nonprofits and businesses around the country. I’m a former nonprofit director, communications leader, experience and event designer, lineaged business owner, and an SBA-approved, certified business advisor.

It’s not lost on me that the trust I’ve been given as a right-hand advisor and thought partner to leaders in the nonprofit, philanthropic and private sectors around the US is a sacred exchange. It’s about reciprocity — you give me your trust, I give you mine. You ask for support, I give it to you. I show up as my authentic self, you do too.

We can’t reach a stable landing unless we allow the messy uncertainty to be aerated. They are gifts, and they lead to breakthroughs if we give them room to breathe. With those courageous enough to let the veil fall, I’m honored to steward their uncertainty with my sharpest thinking, tools, and resources. When collaborative partners are needed, I draw from a team of strategists.

Today, I primarily support teams with Culture & Operations support, fractional leadership, and customized retreats rooted in repair and restorative care. Privately I supports leaders with advanced private coaching that includes methods and frameworks I apply to strategy work with teams.

My scopes are fully customized, typically 3-6 months, and range $30,000-$75,000 based on the complexity, team size, length of time, location of services, and desired deliverable. However, I offer shorter “parachute projects” and longer-term retainers depending on needs and budget.

Please note, I only work with teams who support a free Palestine and liberation for all.

I’d love to explore working together this year.

With deep care,
Annie
