Work at Mariposa Strategies

We’re a woman of color-owned, boutique strategic planning and coaching company on a mission to help sensitive leaders and entrepreneurs find unexpected possibility and opportunities as they move through big change.

We’re in service to those who live in the blurry land of the in between — where identity, community, culture, grief and the messy, often scary, unknown leaves more questions than answers. This is our sweet spot of what ifs & figure outs.

We know sensitive people are often over-looked, under-appreciated and underestimated. We love working with and supporting these visionaries in their businesses, nonprofits and personal lives because their magic makes our world a better place.

We envision a world in which the sensitive, brilliant in betweeners are living fully with joy, purpose and passion — embodied examples to the kids in our lives for what is truly possible.

Our guiding principles as a team, creators and people on this planet are to:

  • Deliver high-value services and products, while giving away the best for free

  • Accept everyone as they are while believing and championing in their fullest potential

  • Interact with honesty, transparency and humility always in all ways

  • Be curious

We value:

  • Ease

  • Abundance

  • Intentionality

  • Liberation

In order to accomplish this:

  1. We take personal responsibility seriously. Life is too beautiful, short and complicated to approach each other and our work from any place but courageous, vulnerable personal responsibility. It’s an act of bravery to admit when we’re wrong or when we’ve made mistakes. It’s a reflection of personal growth to take the initiative to fix what needs fixing and to ask for help when we need it. Taking personal responsibility also means being proud of our accomplishments and contributions and not downplaying them. Taking a cue from our friends at Hello Seven: You are here to own your part in all co-created messes and miracles.

  2. We say what we mean and mean what we say. People entrust us with their dreams and fears, and we honor that trust by doing what we say we’re going to do and providing the best customer experience possible. We know that in order to show up 100% for our people, we must be 100% committed to ourselves and each other as a team. We say what we mean and mean what we say. We name and honor boundaries that allow us to show up as our best selves.

  3. We co-create solutions. We’re dreamers, thinkers and doers with a big vision and important mission. Obstacles are opportunities for creative innovation and we’re committed to doing what it takes to figure shit out and make things happen. We co-create systems and solutions that support our goals and support each of our individual, potentiated selves.

  4. We trust the sacred sciences. We are beautifully intricate and unique individuals with heart and hard data that illuminates, validates and backs up why we are the way we are. Our strengths are lifted up and nurtured into super powers that serve ourselves and our people at a soul level. Our weaknesses are information. We lean into our strengths and honor our sacred data found in astrology, dreams, yearnings, journals and behavior.

  5. We know joy and laughter are medicine. We are sensitive, creative people. Play, art, movement, and all the other activities that bring us personal joy are essential to the sustainability of our company. When we find ourselves buried in our work and everything feels hard — we know our creative flow and genius is blocked. When we find our selves floating through our work with unencumbered ease — we know we are taking our own medicine.

  6. We rest like our lives depend on it. We do not support hustle and grind culture. We do epic shit and it requires effort and focus, and energy. We don’t wait to rest because we know what exhaustion does to our creative flow, brain power, physical health and mental health. We see rest as ritual. Rest is woven into our daily lives, helping us to re-member. Rest helps us refine our goals and make decisions with clarity and courage. As our beloved teacher Octavia Raheem says, “The most powerful person in the room is the most rested.”
